For their opening season game in October 1967, the Los Angeles King wore a simple hockey shirt with a purple and gold scheme. The color scheme, which represents royalty, goes very well with the team’s crown logo and is made to coincide with the Los Angeles Lakers socks. The Kings shirt has a golden shirt for home games and a purple shirt for an away game with alternating lines on the arm and around the lower body. The crown logo is displayed in the center of the T-shirt and lined with purple and gold. In 1980, Kings jersey introduced a new design. White contrast stripes are added to the arms and stem lines to make the shirt stand out more prominently.
The colors for the house and socks remain the same but the horizontal lines on the sleeves are converted into vertical lines of width. The crown logo also remains the same and continues to be worn on the front of the jersey. In 1988 the colors of purple and gold had been retired and replaced with black and silver. This new color scheme immediately coincides with the color of Los Angeles’s latest sports team, the Raiders. Their home clothes and games have the same design with alternating colors: black at home and white while away. The Kings logo is also transformed into a more complicated version.

The new logo has the words “Los Angeles Kings” on black and silver crowns. In 1998 Kings resigned the Los Angeles Kings black and silver jersey for purple, black and silver schemes. While striping on jersey is still similar to a black and silver shirt, they add contrasting shoulder colors and the words “Los Angeles” to the bottom. The logo also underwent a drastic change. For a while, the logo used was a shield featuring crowns, lions and the sun with two adjacent hockey bars in front.
Although this became a widely recognized symbol for the Los Angeles Kings, in 1999 it was replaced with a simple and sleek crown. In 2008, Kings Los Angeles reintroduced their black and silver color scheme and revealed the design of their new Reebok Edge shirt. This shirt is designed in such a way as the original black and silver, but has a thin silver line that runs from the neck to the arm cuff. They also brought back the shield logo but only used the letters “LA” at the top and the slim crown design beneath it.
